Easter Weekend 2010

For Easter this year, Tommy and I spent the weekend at his parent's house in Hurricane. We enjoyed watching General Conference and spending time with the family. We had an Easter Egg Hunt for the little ones in the backyard and ate some of my mother-in-law's famous yummy scones! Tommy and I both made Easter baskets for each other (I know...cute, huh? LOL!) and we both must think alike because we ended up getting each other really similar outfits. He got me a blue plaid dress, and I got him 2 shirts...one that was blue plaid, the other blue striped. We didn't wanna look too "matchy matchy", so he opted to wear the blue striped one.

I Love My "Job"!

I just want to say that I absolutely LOVE being the Utah State Cinderella Royalty Coordinator! Even though its not a real paying job, I really do invest more time and thought and money into it as if it were my actual career! I feel so lucky and blessed to have the opportunity to work with such wonderful girls and moms! I hope that my work helps their year to be just a little more organized and special. And I hope they all know how much I love them! "It's Magic...Cinderella Magic!" Here is a picture of me with my current state royalty in the dresses that I planned for them. And of course I couldn't do it without the patience and support of my amazing husband! :)

Go T-Birds!

Tommy and I were able to make it up to several home SUU Gymnastics meets this season. It was great to see my old SUU family! The team is really doing well this year and I couldn't be more proud of them! Below are a few pictures with former T-Birds and teammates!

Our big move!

Okay, so ever since I found Facebook, I've really slacked off on our blog...but I'm gonna try not to do that anymore! So in a nutshell update...I guess the biggest change is our move to Las Vegas, NV! We've been here since December 2009 and even though we miss being closer to our family and friends, we're enjoying it so far.

Tommy is doing well in his job at Sherwin-Williams Paint and has quickly learned all the secrets of managing a paint store and helping customers! Now mixing and tinting paint himself, he is fast becoming a paint expert...so if any of you DIY painters out there have any questions, he'll be more than happy to help out!

I just recently took up a job coaching at Gymcats Gymnastics in Henderson. I love being back in the gym...I really miss being a gymnast myself and I enjoy coaching the next generation of athletes. I'm still retaining my athletic training certification and am looking for opportunities to further that, as well! I'm also still enjoying my job as Utah State Cinderella Royalty Coordinator and publisher of the Royal Carriage Newsletter.

All in all, we're doing great! We miss everyone in Utah, but look forward to making a new life here in Vegas!

Update!

I know, I know...I'm such a blog slacker! Life has been CRAZY, especially with Internationals! But if you wanna know about it, you're just gonna have to see it on my Facebook, cuz I don't have the energy to post more pictures of it up...LOL!

I will, however, update you on our family reunion in Fort Worth, Texas! What a blast! Micah was able to come with us, too! We first went to Vegas to visit my Grandma from Hawaii who was vacationing there. It's been awhile since we've seen her, so it was really special! We had fun gambling (just a little bit), walking down the old Strip, and of course, eating! (She always has yummy treats and snacks with her that brings back old memories from the islands!)

Then if was off to a 20-hour drive to Texas! It was great seeing our Texas Douglas's again! All their kids are growing up so fast! Last time I saw them was three years ago at our wedding! Anyways, we had a great time swimming, going to the zoo, playing at Let's Jump, attending the Dallas temple, and just being with family!

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July! Tommy and I had fun at an early morning breakfast with some of his family, followed by the city parade. We went 4-wheeling together later that day, and then met up at his parents house for some swimming, a steak BBQ, and fireworks. I just want to say how blessed I feel to live in this great country and I am so thankful for those who fight to protect our freedom! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Texas Cinderella!!

I got the opportunity to judge my very first state Cinderella Pageant...IN TEXAS! It was such an amazing and rewarding experience and I had so much fun! I met so many beautiful and sweet Texas Cinderella Girls and I can't wait to see all of them at Internationals in Dallas!

Utah Cinderella!

Well this past weekend was the Utah State Cinderella Pageant! As royalty coordinator, I was super busy and stressed and exhausted...but it was so much fun! I am so excited for my new royalty, Courtlyn, Danielle, Kyara, Jenika, and Ashley...and of course all of my awesome royalty moms! It was great seeing Tiare reign as International Miss! She also had two of her International royalty sisters join her as visiting royalty! Thanks to Kennedy and Taylor for coming down...it was so fun! (By the way, they are all at the Arizona State Pageant right now and I am so jealous! I wish I was there to see all my amazing Arizona Cindy sisters!)

New Graduate!

Congrats to my little brother, Micah! He graduated with high honors from American Leadership Academy this past weekend! We are so proud of him...and even more thrilled that he will be attending and playing baseball for Southern Utah University! I'm so excited to have another T-bird in the family!

The graduation ceremony was great! It's a small school, so it was nice not to have to sit through hours of names being read! And Micah proved to be Mr. Popularity as he had a blast with all of his friends! And of course, they read his ENTIRE name as he accepted his diploma: Micah Judd Kalanikiakahionu'uanu Red Bear Across the Water Keeno! Yes, the announcer read that whole thing! It was awesome! Here are some pictures of that night...

Thomas W. Douglas, MBA

Tommy and I both now have 3 letters after each of our names: Tehani L. Douglas, ATC (certified athletic trainer) and Thomas W. Douglas, MBA!!!!!

Yesterday Tommy graduated with his MASTER'S degree of Business Administration! Yea! I am so proud of him! He's worked so hard and he finally earned it! He was so cute up there as he received his diploma cover and they hooded him with his official Master's degree hood! He was also lucky to graduate alongside his brother, Spencer, who was receiving his Masters of Accountancy.

It was so fun going back to SUU and seeing some old friends! And it was such an awesome graduation ceremony! We were lucky to have President Thomas S. Monson (Tommy's namesake) as the commencement speaker! He gave such an amazing and inspiring speech to the new graduates...I absolutely loved it!

Weber County Prelim

Since I'm always helping and super busy at all the Cinderella preliminaries, I hardly ever get a chance to take any pictures. But I got a couple this weekend at the Weber County Prelim. It turns out, a couple members of my royalty (when I was the State Woman) were competing. Stefani and Ashley were my State Miss and Teen. And they both won Saturday as Teen and Woman! I was so proud of them! We got an "old royalty" photo after they were both crowned. I love you guys!

Athletic Training Convention

This past weekend I attended my first athletic training convention as a certified athletic trainer! A convention may sound kinda boring, but I loved it! I really enjoyed being able to interact with other athletic trainers and learn from other professionals. The cool thing was that we met up with several other former and current athletic training students and professors who were all from Southern Utah University! Our professor said that it was the highest number of former SUU students they have ever had at one conference! We were able to enjoy a lunch together and it was fun meeting up with old SUU AT students. Go Thunderbirds!

Four Years!

I know this may be kinda cheesy, but I don't care. April 17 will be the four-year mark of when Tommy and I STARTED DATING! (Remember that day, Kels? Haha!) Wow, I can't believe it's been four years! It's flown by, but it's been the best four years of my life! I love you, Sweetie!

Happy Easter!

Hope everyone had a great Easter! Tommy and I had a blast at his parent's house in Hurricane as some of us got together for a family party, complete with the famous outdoor Douglas Easter Egg Hunt! Our nieces and nephews are SO CUTE! I love them! Thanks for a great time everyone!

Jenny made these adorable Easter cupcakes!
You are so creative, Jen! Love ya!

Our cupcakes...right before they got eaten!
Yum!

I miss it!

So, I'm totally going through withdrawals from competing in college gymnastics! I know that it was simply time to move on and I am excited to step into the next stage of my life...but I just didn't realize that I would miss it this much! It was such a huge part of my life! However, I have definitely been keeping close tabs on my SUU team this year and I couldn't be more proud of them! I am so proud to be a former member of the "Flippin' Birds"! I was looking through some of my old gym pics and I just had to post a few old photos of me and my girls! I...LOVE...THE T-BIRDS!

Tommy's Birthday!

On February 13, Tommy turned 25!! I surprised him that morning with breakfast in bed! Unfortunately, I had to spend most of the day at work, but after I got off work, I sent him on a surprise birthday scavenger hunt around St. George. The hunt took him around to some of our favorite places to shop and eat and he got a special treat at each place. It ended at one of our favorite Japanese and sushi restaurants...Samurai 21, where I was waiting anxiously for him! Before we sat down for dinner I gave him his gift, the newest John Grisham novel, THE ASSOCIATE. (He has recently become an avid John Grisham fan and it makes me really happy to see him enjoying reading so much!) After an amazing (and expensive) hibachi dinner, we headed home and he was greeted with a decorated living room and chocolate cake. Sorry...unfortunately, we didn't get any pictures of his special day. Hopefully I'll remember the camera next time!
Happy birthday, Sweetie! I love you!

Christmas in Las Vegas!

Tommy and I spent Christmas in Las Vegas with my family from Hawaii! We stayed at Circus Circus and had a fabulous time! (Thank you Tutus!) It was really great spending time with our aunties, uncles, cousins, and Tutus! We ate, played games, ate, had a picture scavenger hunt around Vegas, ate, played at the AdventureDome, ate, took family photos, and...oh yeah, we ate a lot! Haha! We also watched the amazing Hawaiian singing group, Makaha Sons, in a Christmas Eve concert. It was all over way too soon! But as we step into 2009, we continue to be reminded of how precious our relationships with our family members are! Thank you to everyone for a wonderful Christmas! We love you all!
